About the Foundation

The Mattie H. Marshall Foundation was established by Mrs. Mattie H. Marshall on December 26, 1963.

Guidelines

Funding Priorities:

The Foundation supports educational, religious, and human service-related organizations in Americus, GA.  In addition, the Foundation provides grants to named institutions and organizations of special family interest.  

Geographic Focus:

Americus, Georgia

Types of Support:

  • Program Support
  • Project Support
  • Capital Support
  • General Operating

Restrictions:

Grants are restricted to organizations serving Americus, Sumter County, and the Southwest Georgia region.  

Eligibility Requirements:

The Trustees will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3). If you are a 509 (a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information. Grants are not made to support individuals.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:

The Foundation’s trustees meet annually in the fall. August 15 is the deadline for submitting grant proposals to be considered at the fall meeting.

Grant Range:

The average grant size is between $5,000 – $10,000.
